tales of eiru
These 4x6-inch oil paintings on handmade paper emerged from the storied landscape of West Clare, Ireland, where I was an artist-in-residence at the Burren College of Art in Winter 2026.
Working on paper crafted from reclaimed egg cartons, I was drawn to the quiet way image and material meet and the alchemy of meaning that pours forth from this tactility. Each piece is archivally mounted and framed to 8x10 inches in a solid wood gallery float frame.
In the course of creation – itself an exercise in the quick recording of fleeting visions – these intimate compositions began to take on a life of their own, writing a story of mythology, ecology, and place. I sense that these little vignettes are just a small fragment of a larger fairytale still unfolding.
