SERIES THREE . PERSONAL CATHEDRALS
Playing with language, gilded branches, and pressed flowers as symbols of identity, vitality, and decay, the art of Personal Cathedrals digs at the heart of what drives our perception of self and begs us to examine the boxes we choose for ourselves and for others - where they lead us, and where they leave us. We build our castles in the sky and piece by piece we try to lay the foundations under them. But to what extent is chasing the ideal a good thing? It gives us something to strive for, a way to take charge; it allows us to feel accomplished when we’ve reached a milestone. But it can also be extremely limiting. How scary it is to diverge from the path we’ve set out for ourselves and to allow something else, something entirely unknown and unpredictable, to emerge! And yet how freeing.
